Chapter 6 Lesson 3

In the last lesson we learned that in order to make ones own self ones friend, we have to conquer ones body senses and mind.
In the verse 7 and 8 of Chapter 6 Krishna states: "He is spoken of as a God realized soul who is perfectly serene in the midst of pairs of opposites, such as joy and sorrow, cold and heat and honor and ignominy.
The self controlled man in whom the Supreme Spirit is rooted, to him stone and gold are alike.

My note:

Allow me to tell you a story, I heard:
A sanyasi couple was walking in the forest when one noticed a gold coin on the floor...the husband told the wife: "walk on, it is a stone"!

The following sutra may not be absolutely relevant to the above but it is related:
The Ishavasya Upanishad says your ego will disappear if you cease to call anything yours. "Everything in the universe is controlled and owned by the Lord. Accept only those things that are essential."
